About the job

IT System Engineers have a mix of system and software engineering knowledge, they are working closely with product engineers to design reliable and scalable system designs and sustain our exponential growth.

You will be responsible for the reliability, automation and availability of Scaleway's internal services, sharing the responsibility with the internal teams to diagnose, mitigate and solve outages.

You will face some of the most complex challenges in distributed systems at scale and help us deliver the products our customers need in order to succeed.

Profil recherché

  • You are passionate about cloud computing, hosting, network or datacenters
  • Strong experience with at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, Node, Ruby, C/C++, Java, PHP
  • Solid foundation in Linux administration and troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of fundamental technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS
  • Deploy and maintain components on a large scale environment
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Salt, Puppet, Chef)
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated and a capacity to get things done
  • Capacity to adapt and learn quickly
  • Experience with version control, specifically Git
  • Strong scripting and automation skills
  • Very good command of English

  • You are contributor of an open-source project
  • Experience operating large-scale, distributed systems
  • Experience with public cloud platforms
  • SRE/DevOps experience in a Linux based environment
  • Experience in Networking, Security or Storage
  • Experience with big data systems or database administration

  • Work with the core teams on improving Scaleway products everyday
  • Provide support to design robust, highly available systems that will run across multiple datacenter
  • Develop software to improve the latency, stability and availability of Scaleway services
  • Build tools to monitor service performance and availability
  • Solve problems and use automation to make sure they will not happen again
  • Perform on-call duty as part of a team responsible of the availability and performance of internal services
  • Develop tools to assist Scaleway engineers
  • Keep code easy to maintain and keep it easy for others
  • Give back to the community by contributing to open-source projects

  • This position can be either: 
    - Based in our offices in Paris or Lille (France), partial/full remote is possible 
    - Fully remote worldwide
